Guidelines for Marking Label

Ensuring clear and accurate labelling on products is crucial for consumer awareness and regulatory compliance. Here are the guidelines for marking labels:

  • Each product or its packaging, or both, must bear the Standard Mark as specified in Annexure – I if it holds a license.
  • The Standard Mark must prominently display the license number and any other relevant reference to specified requirements, as outlined in the license.
  • If the physical application of the Standard Mark on the product or packaging is impractical, it must be included on the test certificate.
  • Product details, such as variety, lot or batch number, manufacturing date or week, brand name, trademark, and complete manufacturer address, must be labeled on the product or its packaging, or both, via an attached label.
  • For a certificate of conformity, the certificate number must be marked on the product, its packaging, or both, and a copy of the certificate must accompany the product.
  • The Bureau may specify additional labelling and marking requirements, including the usage of the Standard Mark under a license, for specific products in relevant product-specific guidelines, which must be adhered to.

These guidelines make sure that products are appropriately labeled, aiding consumers in making informed decisions while upholding regulatory standards.
