An update has been issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in the form of the "Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024," slated to be effective from September 26, 2024. This amendment mandates that products falling under its purview must comply with relevant Indian Standard specifications and bear the ISI Mark, acquired through licensing from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. The principal aim of this order is to uphold the quality standards of Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Products. Please note that until December 26, 2024, small enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, are exempt from the provisions of this order.
