The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has recently introduced a comprehensive regulatory framework with the issuance of the "Textiles-High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)/Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers (Quality Control) Order, 2023," "Textiles-High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)/Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging of 50 kg Cement (Quality Control) Order, 2023," "Textiles-Polypropylene (PP) Woven, Laminated, Block Bottom Valve Sacks for Packaging of 50 kg Cement (Quality Control) Order, 2023," "Textiles-High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)/Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging of 25 kg Polymer Materials (Quality Control) Order, 2023," and "Textiles-Polypropylene (PP)/High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Laminated Woven Sacks for Mail Sorting, Storage, Transport and Distribution (Quality Control) Order, 2023." This comprehensive Quality Control Order is set to be effective 180 days from its publication in the Official Gazette. Covering a range of products within the Polyethylene Woven Sacks category, the order mandates that all goods or articles falling under these categories adhere meticulously to the corresponding Indian Standards IS 9755:2021, IS 11652:2017, IS 16709:2017, IS 16703:2017, and IS 17399: 2020, respectively, as outlined in the Schedule. To affirm compliance, these products must bear the Standard Mark, an indication of adherence to the stipulated standards. Manufacturers seeking to affix the Standard Mark must obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
