Industry Notification: ISI / BIS Certification

Information to industry regarding coverage of products under IS 4250

The Competent Authority, the Bureau of Indian Standards, has issued a crucial industry information update regarding the coverage of products under IS 4250 in the Indian market. IS 4250:1980 covers electrical motor-driven food mixers (grinders and liquidizers) and centrifugal juicers designed for domestic use and operating at voltages not exceeding 250V. These products fall under mandatory certification as per the Bureau of Indian Standards Kitchen Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2018.

Key points highlighted in this update include:

As per this standard, the rated input for these products should not exceed 750 Watts.
The implementation date for compliance with this standard is October 10, 2018, as notified by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
Any alterations required following the revision of this standard are discussed.
Manufacturers/licensees will be provided sufficient time for the implementation of the revised standard once it is updated.
