The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced a streamlined process for manufacturers by allowing simultaneous applications for both components and products. This change is in accordance with the guidelines outlined in Registration/Guidelines RG: 01 dated 15 Dec 2022, specifically addressing the 'Guidelines for Grant of Licence (GoL) as per the Conformity Assessment Scheme-II of Schedule-II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulation, 2018,' and Registration Guidelines RG:01 dated 16 Dec 2022. These guidelines, which are voluntary in nature, empower manufacturers by enabling parallel testing of electronic products covered under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) of BIS. Unlike the previous procedure, where components were tested one by one, manufacturers can now apply for all components along with the final product simultaneously for BIS Registration. This enhancement in the registration process aims to expedite and simplify the certification procedure for electronic products, offering flexibility to manufacturers while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
