Temporary Suspension of Market Surveillance for Products under Compulsory Registration Scheme

Regarding the temporary suspension of market surveillance for products under the Compulsory Registration Scheme, this update refers to a circular issued on 28 April 2022. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has communicated that while routine surveillance of products covered under CRS will continue, the Bureau of Indian Standards has been advised to keep the surveillance process in abeyance. Despite this advice, BIS had already initiated the process of drawing samples, which has since been completed. Samples of various consumer items were drawn during this period and are currently undergoing testing in BIS-recognized laboratories. This temporary suspension, in accordance with MeitY's guidance, allows for the necessary procedures to be carried out while aligning with regulatory measures for product surveillance under the Compulsory Registration Scheme.
