Industry Notification: ISI / BIS Certification

Extension Order for Precision Roller and Bush Chains, Attachments, and Associated Chains Sprockets

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently issued the Precision Roller and Bush Chains, Attachments, and Associated Chain Sprockets (Quality Control) Order, 2024. This order, which will come into effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette, mandates compulsory adherence to the specified Indian Standard IS 2403:2014/ISO 606:2004 for these products. Under this order, all Precision Roller and Bush Chains, Attachments, and Associated Chain Sprockets must conform to the specified Indian Standards and bear the ISI Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, according to Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. The implementation timeline grants different compliance dates for various enterprise categories defined under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006:

Small Enterprises by 1st January, 2025
Micro Enterprises by 1st April, 2025
General (other than Micro and Small Enterprises) by 1st October, 2024
