The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced the "Electrical Appliance Fans (Quality Control) Order, 2024." This mandate requires all electrical appliance fans to adhere to the Indian Standard IS 302 (Part 2 or Sec 80): 2017. To comply, these products must display the ISI Mark and secure a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), following Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. This order is not applicable to goods manufactured domestically for export. For micro enterprises, defined under clauses (h) and (m) of section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), compliance will be mandatory twelve months after the order's publication. For small enterprises, also defined under the same act, the order will take effect nine months from the publication date. The Bureau of Indian Standards is the designated authority for the certification and enforcement of this order.
