Industry Notification: ISI / BIS Certification

Amendment Order for Acetic Acid, Maleic Anhydride and Pyridine

The Department of Consumer Affairs, in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018, has issued a circular detailing amendments to several Indian Standards, effective from 25th June 2024. These amendments apply to the following specifications:

IS 695:2020 - Acetic Acid (Fourth Revision)
IS 2887:2017 - Laundry Soap Powders/Flakes (Third Revision)
IS 5149:2020 - Maleic Anhydride, Technical (Second Revision)
IS 8058:2018 - Pyridine (First Revision)
IS 8637:2020 - H Acid (Second Revision)

The validity of these standards without amendments extends until 24th December 2024 for IS 695, IS 5149, and IS 8058, and until 24th September 2024 for IS 2887 and IS 8637. Compliance with these updated regulations is essential to meet BIS requirements. Non-compliance may lead to legal penalties and other serious consequences, underscoring the importance of adhering to these revised standards.
