This recent update provides the guidelines for Parallel Testing implementation for products falling under the scope of the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements of Compulsory Registration Order), 2021. Initially introduced on December 19, 2022, as a pilot project solely focusing on Mobile Phones for six months, the initiative was prolonged due to a scarcity of applications. Additionally, two more product categories, Wireless Earphones/Headphones and Laptops/Notebooks/Tablets, were included in the extended pilot project phase. Following extensive consultations with stakeholders and obtaining regulatory consent, the decision has been reached to formalize the pilot project into a permanent scheme. This circular has been issued to formalize the conversion of the pilot project into a permanent scheme. Manufacturers are now empowered to initiate test requests under the parallel testing framework for all product categories covered by the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements of Compulsory Registration Order), 2021, effective immediately from the issuance date of this circular.
