All Set Top Boxes (STBs) used for receiving or decoding any television channel must be registered with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The BIS / CRS Registration Scheme under the IS standard - IS 13252 (Part-1), requires Set Top Boxes to be included. Set Top Boxes may not be exported or imported or sold in the Indian consumer market without a BIS registration.
